Natural Resource Seasonal Intern (May-August)

Position Objective: To complete inspections and maintenance on SWCD Projects.  Duties include: Site Assessment, site prep; which may include installation of erosion control blanket or other products, handling and planting native plants, trees, and shrubs, weeding, sediment removal, providing direction and assisting volunteer project planters, collecting water quality samples, helping with annual tree sale distribution and working with the public and other office duties as may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work 9-10 hours per day in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work weekends or nights when requested (rare)
  • Valid MN drivers license
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Organization skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of native Minnesota trees and plants
  • Self-driven and highly motivated
  • Experience in natural resources field or natural resource class work
  • Excellent communication skills
  • GIS experience
  • Work independently, and as part of a team
